When it is War! – you want W.A.R. on your side:W.A.R. is a well recognized trial attorney in Alaska, and his initials match his litigation style – which may be why Sarah Palin, when she was Governor of Alaska, nominated him to be her Attorney General.At a CLE (Continuing Legal Education) seminar for attorneys on ethics, a particularly hard scenario was being discussed about what you, as the attorney, would do if your criminal defense client was guilty and he told you, while you were his attorney [and therefore the "attorney-client privilege" applied], that he [ (had committed the crime) ]. Bad law, it is said, comes from hard cases [because there are often at least two compelling, but now opposing, principles at stake, and the law (which is really decided by people now and no longer handed down from the heavens on stone tablets) must decide which principle is more important than the other(s)]. One of the presenters up on the dais, looking out over the audience, spotted W.A.R. and said: "Wayne, what would you do?"W.A.R. replied by neatly and masterfully side-stepping the question: "Fortunately for me, I've only represented innocent people." And that is the kind of trial attorney, whether criminal or civil, one would want, come hell or high water, to represent you.
