Ireland possesses an epic history, deep mysticism, and a complex culture. Its captivating mythology is legendary, profoundly influencing our modern lifestyle and custom. For instance, most Americans still celebrate the ancient Celtic festival Samhain – we simply it Halloween. But Ireland’s storied past and social intricacies have also gifted Western civilization with an ideal of the human life and a poetry of the human experience. For this reason, the little island is often called a land of “saints and scholars;” a phrase which this journal takes for its name. Thus, a core purpose of this publication is to provide a forum for discussion and scholarship focused on an array of topics – from education and history to theology and art – contextualized within an Irish milieu.
